5 Shockingly Easy Totally Painless Ways To Build Your List

You’re a clever, driven entrepreneur (that’s why you’re reading this, right?) so you obviously know your list is one of the most important tools in your proverbial marketing tool box.

You also know how to create email newsletters that people actually want to open but what about getting more people to join your list?

If you’d like to bulk up that list, read on for five awesome tips. Even better? None of these will take longer than twenty minutes!

  1. Put a link to your opt-in in your Twitter profile
I’m sure you’ve got a delicious, insanely helpful opt-in that lures people onto your list, right? A free ebook, a short video series, a checklist? Instead of linking to your homepage where readers might get lost in your blog, link directly to a page detailing that amazing opt-in and a big ol’ signup box.
  2. Link to your opt-in in your guest post bios
One of the best ways to attract new readers and clients is to guest post on high traffic blogs in your niche. Your host will usually allow you a small bio with a few links. The natural inclination is to link to your website and your two most used social media accounts, but if you link to your opt-in, you’re much more likely to actually capture some of those new readers and turn them into paying clients!
  3. Put your sign up in multiple places
As you can see, I’ve got a sign up for my newsletter in my sidebar, on my About page, and even as a tiny, inoffensive pop-up at the bottom of the page. Each of these captures different readers and adds to my list.
  4. Create images for Twitter with quotes from your opt-in
Did you know that tweets with images are 94% more likely to get favorited and retweeted? (You can see how I’ve used them here.) Have a read through your own opt-in, pull some of the best, most helpful sound bites, turn them into pretty 440×220 images, and tweet them with a link to your signup page. Now you can even preschedule images in Tweetdeck!
  5. Share your newsletter praise
Are subscribers saying kind things about the emails you’re sending out? (I’m sure they are!) When you get those blush-inducing emails or comments, share them on social media along with a link to your signup form. People trust positive reviews!

See? Nearly painless, absolutely list building.

Now, I’d love to hear what you’ve done to build your own list! Have you discovered any particularly effective tricks?

P.S. Do you know someone who could use some help building their list? Send them this post!
