Did you know I’ve written hundreds of blog posts over the years? Not just on this blog either. That’s thousands and thousands of words, stretching back across the years, breaking down the hows and whys of blogging, WordPress, and social media – all currently gathering dust in my archives.
Sound familiar?
If you’re like me, you’ve poured hours into those posts…finding the right images and wording and promoting the sweet heck out of ‘em.
And then we let them sit there….
Well, no more! Here are four things you can do with your best archived posts to attract new readers, more traffic, and fresh clients:
1. Pitch Old Posts as Guest Posts
There are tons of sites that syndicate content – Elephant Journal, Mind Body Green, Thought Catalog, and HelloGiggles are great for lifestyle content written for a younger crowd. Medium is a fitting place to refresh high quality posts and expose them to a new audience.
Is a blogger in your niche having a baby, moving, or taking time off? Offer up some of your best stuff in the form of guest posts – it’ll lighten their load and introduce your work to a new audience.
2. Turn Old Posts Into an Email Series
As you’ve probably noticed, I love a good list post. I could easily turn any of them into a short-n-sweet email series, sending one tip each day. These series are a great way to build your list and connect with readers.
3. Make Old Posts Into Infographics
Infographics are hugely popular, particularly on Pinterest. And you don’t need a black belt in Photoshop or Indesign to make your own. There are tons of free apps that make it easy. Once you’ve created your shiny new infographic, share it on all your social media platforms and link to it in new posts.
4. Make a Video Version of Your Old Posts
Set up that camera and share your (already written) insights on any given topic. Pro tip: don’t try to read your post verbatim into the camera; read it a few times and then share the major points on camera. You’ll come off as more natural and human.
Now go have a dig through those archives! I bet there are tons of great posts in there, just aching to be shared.
In the comments, I’d love to hear how you have re-purposed older content. I’m sure there are some great ideas I missed!
