I am lucky enough to design and code for some spectacularly talented people.
People who write books that get turned into courses at major universities. People who write about tough, important, though-provoking things. People who give us tips that will make family life a million times more fun.
Every single day I love working with my clients, and every single day I tell anyone who will listen about their fantastic books and products.
But I find the holiday season to be the perfect opportunity to take things a step further, spread the word and good karma around. The results have been so positive I thought you should know about it (and then maybe steal the idea and use it yourself)!
Each year, I buy one of my client’s products in bulk, ask them to autograph it or write a short note, and then I send these personalized gifts to all my other clients.
And everyone loves it! Here’s why:
1. I’m supporting my clients
I believe in the work that my clients do, and I want to put my money where my mouth is. When I buy their books my clients know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I’m on their team.
2. Everyone feels special (they are)
A book that helps you get present and out of your head? Or brand your small business? Wonderful! Those same books with a personalized note from the author? AMAZING.
3. It creates camaraderie + introduces my clients to each other
It’s a painless way to encourage networking between my clients and introduce them to each other’s work. And if they like what they read? I’m so, so happy to set up a CC email and an ‘official’ introduction.
If you love this idea but don’t have author clients, don’t worry! You can buy books in bulk and request autographs from nearly any author – that’s how I first met the inimitable Mike Michalowicz. He signed a pile of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur books for me and before you know it, I was interviewing him!
Of course, I think you should buy my clients’ books and give them as gifts but I might be slightly biased.
Do you give your clients holiday gifts? If you’ve ever given a particularly popular gift, I’d love to hear about it!
P.S. 12 days of unique client gifts
