I love working with creative entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial people inspire me in general–they always have. They’re brave, willing to take risks and do things that people have told them can’t be done, they don’t take no for an answer. In a way, being an entrepreneur automatically makes a person “creative” because you have to come up with solutions to problems and forge paths where none exist–that’s pretty creative, right?
But take an entrepreneur, and add in that technicolor creative spark that some people are just born with–well… now you’ve got something extraordinary. That rare combination of right and left brain prowess that can’t help but stand apart–it’s that special something people can never find the words to describe. That’s Emily Caswell, founder and creative genius at The Favor Stylist.
Emily mixed her scientific background in biotech with her brilliant creative spark and launched her business in 1997, creating personalized party favors consisting mainly of lip balms, sugar scrubs, and body lotions. According to Emily, she started her business to offer hand-crafted products decorated to customers’ specifications using the best ingredients, fun embellishments, and reckless enthusiasm. Eight years later, she has a loyal customer base and growing business that’s completely unique in her industry. She creates the products and the packaging herself, making sure every order is custom tailored to her customers special event.
